Document Sections

Each invoice is divided into a series of sectons, some of which are optional, and some of which are repeating.

Invoice Header The Invoice Header is the first section of the invoice, displayed at the top of the first page. This is generally the place to display who the invoice is from and to, the date, invoice number, logo etc.
Sessions The Sessions section is displayed once for each session on the invoice. The first Session is displayed immediately below the Invoice Header.
Extras The Extras section is optional. Extras sections appear underneath the Session they relate to, with one Extra section displayed for each Extra in the Session.
Expenses The Expenses section is optional. Expenses sections appear underneath the Session they relate to, with one Expense section displayed for each Expense in the Session.
Session Footer The Session Footer section is optional. This is displayed once for each Session. It can be used for example to display the session note, or the total for the Session e.g. Rate + Extras + Expenses + Employer Pension Contribution.
Invoice Footer This appears at the bottom of the last page of the invoice, after all of the Sessions have been displayed. This is generally the place to display the invoice total and invoice notes.
Page Header and Footer These are optional sections. They are displayed at the top and bottom of each page of the invoice. They are painted on top of the Background, but behind the Foreground sections (Invoice Header, Sessions, Extras, Invoice Footer).
Background 1 This is an optional section that is displayed as the background of page 1. Having a different background on page 1 is useful for example when doing complicated layouts where you must take account of the Invoice Header - which is only displayed on the first page.
Background All This is an optional section that is displayed as the background of every page. If the the invoice property 'Backgrounds' is set to 'Same on all pages', this section is displayed on every page. If this property is set to 'Different on page 1', then 'Background All' section is displayed only and page 2 and later.
