PennyPerfect Password

Protecting your data with a password

If you forget your password your data cannot be retrieved.

Setting a Password

  1. From the Tools menu, select Options.
  2. On the dialogue that pops up, the Password tab is on the General (first) tab.
  3. You must enter the old password before you can enter a new one (this is blank when you first install PennyPerfect).
  4. Enter the new password twice exactly the same (the password is case sensitive i.e. enigma and Enigma are not the same).
  5. Click the Change Password button.

All your data is stored immediately using the new password for encryption.

Clearing a Password

To remove a password, follow the same steps as above but after entering the old password, leave the new password boxes empty. Click the Change Password button and the password has now been removed. You will no longer require a password to start PennyPerfect.

Password Strength

A weak password such as the name of your pet, partner, or favourite team is easy to guess. A strong password should be at least 8 characters long and contain mixed case letters, numbers, and punctuation, e.g. 9PiNK_toads.
